Is CBD Flower Safe?

Is CBD Flower Safe? - Secret Nature

Life is an ultimately unsafe exercise usually ending in death. Everything we do is only relatively safe: smoking CBD hemp flower included.

Depending on how it’s bred, grown, and processed, CBD flower can vary widely in terms of safety. Learn more about the inherent safety of CBD and hemp flower, then find out how to compare and contrast CBD hemp flower brands to get the best results.

Can you smoke CBD buds?

Yes, you can put this in your pipe and smoke it. Hemp varies widely in grade, though, and some low-grade buds might be considered “biomass,” something you never want to smoke.

Hemp buds you can smoke are usually called smokable hemp. It’s that simple. Also, if a product is listed as “CBD flower” instead of “CBD biomass,” it’s probably smokable-grade, but this terminology is far from universal throughout the hemp industry.

Be very careful about the CBD buds you choose to smoke, but understand that smoking hemp or cannabis has been an integral part of the practices of certain cultures for thousands of years. Lighting hemp on fire and inhaling the smoke has not resulted in any major recorded side effects within this period.

Is smoking CBD hemp flower safe?

We don’t have enough information to make any definitive claims about the safety of CBD hemp flower. Relevant federal authorities have yet to weigh in regarding the relative safety or danger of smoking hemp.

There’s plenty of information available regarding the safety of the CBD molecule, though. It appears to have very few major side effects, and the FDA has even approved a CBD-based drug for certain types of epilepsy and other conditions.

Regarding the safety of inhaling hemp smoke, understand that hemp flower and joints very rarely contain any of the dangerous chemicals present in tobacco cigarettes. Smokable hemp producers tend to make a point of using all-natural papers and growing their flower organically, though quality varies significantly throughout the industry.

Is CBD hemp flower good for you?

Many people who use hemp flower strongly believe that it is good for them. In many different forms, cannabis has been using the medicine for thousands of years around the world. Our society is an outlier for viewing cannabis negatively.

With that said, specific benefits of smoking or vaping CBD flower have yet to be established with scientific research. Anecdotally, people who use CBD hemp flower generally report that it has beneficially soothing effects that help them relax throughout the day or get to sleep at night.

Does CBD flower give you a high?

No, CBD hemp flower does not get you high because CBD is a non-intoxicating cannabinoid. Instead of getting you high, smoking CBD flower provides the relaxing benefits of this hemp substance in the most potent and immediate way possible.

CBD flower can contain up to 0.3% delta 9 THC. That concentration of THC, though, isn’t anywhere near enough to get you high, especially given the recorded propensity of CBD to diminish or moderate the effects of THC.

Can you drive after smoking CBD?

Since it is non-intoxicating, CBD should not significantly impair your ability to drive a vehicle regardless of how you ingest it. Keep in mind, though, that CBD has potent relaxing benefits that could make you more likely to fall asleep at the wheel. Consult with your doctor if you’re unsure whether it’s a good idea to smoke CBD before driving in your particular case.

What are the side effects of smoking CBD flower?

Scientists have not recorded any major side effects of smoking CBD hemp flower. In fact, a recent study found that cannabis smokers are not more susceptible to one of the most nefarious side effects of tobacco consumption: lung cancer. It’s possible that our presuppositions about smoking as a general practice may be just as misconceived as the notions we all once held about a “food pyramid” that places grains above all else and entirely ignores the role of healthy fats in good diet.

How can you tell if hemp flower is safe?

There are 3 main ways you can tell if CBD hemp flower is good to smoke or not:

1.) Appearance

Regardless of what anyone might say, there’s no inherent reason that CBD hemp buds should look any worse than the best top-shelf cannabis nugs you’ve seen at dispensaries. If your hemp nugs look thin and scraggly, they might not smoke well, but if they are plump and luscious, it’s likely they’ll burn beautifully.

2.) Testing

Every legitimate CBD hemp flower product is accompanied by an easy-to-find, third-party lab report. This report should tell you about the cannabinoids and terpenes present in the product and give some basic information about its safety. Failure to provide lab tests upon request is a surefire red flag when shopping for CBD hemp flower online.

3.) Reviews

Customer reviews can be more persuasive than any amount of sophisticated lab testing or slick marketing material. The more reviews a CBD flower brand has, the more popular it is. If these reviews are overwhelmingly positive, it’s likely you found an excellent source of CBD hemp flower.
