How to Make CBD Soap — DIY Guide - Secret Nature

CBD makes everything better — even soap. We’re with you, however, in believing there’s a lamentable lack of high-quality CBD-infused soaps on the market.

It’s time to take matters into your own hands. Making soap from home isn’t as hard as you think, and adding CBD to the equation doesn’t change things considerably.

The type of CBD flower you choose matters, though. You’re taking the time to make your own soap because you want it to be good, and the only way to get the results you want is with Secret Nature hemp flower.

What is CBD soap?

CBD soap is soap infused with the non-intoxicating cannabinoid cannabidiol (CBD). This type of soap doesn’t get you high, but it might smell like hemp and offer relaxing benefits.

There are a few different types of hemp extracts CBD soap can contain, but they all ultimately originate from hemp flower. Starting straight from the source gives you the most quality control and ensures the earthiest, most natural results.

What does CBD soap do?

When you apply CBD soap while bathing or showering, it absorbs through your skin’s layers easily since your pores become more permeable when warm. Even though it doesn’t stay on your skin long, CBD soap absorbs very effectively, and it feels good on your skin.

The effects of CBD soap are unlikely to be mind-blowingly profound. If you’ve never tried CBD this way, however, lathering up with CBD soap should certainly be on your bucket list, and true hemp veterans are always looking for new ways to surround and permeate themselves with CBD.

Why should I make CBD soap with Secret Nature hemp?

Spoiler alert — making CBD soap is just about as easy as picking a source of CBD and combining it with a pre-made soap mix. There are lots of different kinds of CBD to choose from, though, so what makes our hemp better?

We’ll put it to you this way — ever been to Hawaii and sucked on fresh-cut sugarcane? Maybe not, but you can imagine. Okay, now head down to McDonalds, grab a packet of processed sugar, and pour it down your throat.

Now, try to tell us that the experiences were the same. That’s the difference between CBD isolate and CBD flower — or put more correctly, between any other type of CBD and Secret Nature CBD flower, which is grown organically indoors using the industry’s best handcrafted genetics.

To lye or not to lye — that is the question

Let’s briefly touch on a point that will become important later. To truly make soap from scratch, you need to handle lye, a caustic substance that you might rather stay further away from.

In our recipe, we’ll use a ready-made soap mix instead of making soap from scratch. If you want to get down and dirty with the process, however, there are plenty of guides you can use to make cold-process soap with lye.

How to make CBD soap — step-by-step guide

We’re going to break our guide up into three sections: ingredients, materials, and instructions. First, you’ll learn what goes into CBD soap, and then you’ll learn which tools you need to make it.

Lastly, we’ll run you through the steps you should take to make CBD flower soap that fits your exact standards. Ready? Let’s get started.

— Ingredients —

The ingredients that will go into your homemade CBD soap are actually quite simple:

  • 2 lb soap base*
  • 3-7g Secret Nature CBD-rich hemp flower
  • 1 cup coconut oil

* There are lots of different types of ready-mixed soap bases to choose from. Some contain goat milk while others are based on aloe or honey. Take your pick based on your preferences and restrictions.

— Materials —

You’ll need a wide variety of materials to get the job done. Let’s separate them into the tools you’ll need to make CBD oil and the tools you’ll need to combine that CBD oil into soap.

CBD oil materials:

  • Crockpot or double-boiler
  • Probe thermometer
  • Cheesecloth
  • Strainer
  • Mixing bowl

Soap-making materials:

  • Mixing bowl
  • Heated knife (electric or heated over a stove)
  • Microwave (or toaster oven)
  • Spatula
  • Soap molds
  • Towels

— Instructions —

Now the good stuff — the instructions:

  1. Let’s start by making the CBD oil. Grind and decarboxylate your Secret Nature hemp flower, and combine it with the coconut oil in the double-boiler.
  2. On the lowest-possible heat setting, allow the mixture to simmer for at least half an hour. Some recommend simmering for up to eight hours, but doing so will negatively impact taste.
  3. When done, pour the mixture through the cheesecloth and strainer into the mixing bowl.
  4. Now, break your soap base into small chunks, and place them in a heated container. This can be accomplished with a pan on the stove, a baking pan in a toaster oven, or a bowl in the microwave.
  5. Once the soap mix is completely melted, add your homemade coconut CBD oil. Mix the two substances thoroughly, and add any fragrances or additional desired ingredients.
  6. Pour the mixture into the soap molds, and allow them to cool. Your soap should be cool and ready for use in around two hours.

Making CBD soap FAQ

What else can we tell you about the intricacies of making hemp soap from home?

1. How do you make natural hemp soap?

The first step to making natural hemp soap is picking the right ingredients. Only the safest, most natural ingredients will do — no additives like artificial dyes or fragrances.

Then, you’ll also need to get your hands on all-natural CBD-rich hemp. As the world’s premier supplier of organic hemp flower, Secret Nature offers the best raw materials for crafting any natural hemp soap.

2. How do you use CBD in soap?

Using CBD in soap is as easy as adding CBD extract to a pre-made soap mix and then using heat to combine the two ingredients. When done, you can use your homemade CBD soap to wash your body and infuse your skin with the benefits of hemp at the same time.

3. How do you make CBD body wash?

The process of making liquid soap is very similar to the process of making solid soap bars. There are just a few more steps and ingredients involved — once you’ve assembled the right ingredients, use an instructional guide to learn how to make liquid soap, and then add your CBD flower extract at the end.

4. Does CBD soap make you sleepy?

It shouldn’t. CBD does have a tendency to be somewhat soporific, but applying CBD soap most likely won’t elicit these mildly psychoactive effects.

The whole process of bathing with hemp, however, might make you feel so relaxed that sleep hits soon after. Take some CBD orally or inhale it to get the full blast of this cannabinoid’s snooze-inducing potential.

5. Does CBD soap get you high?

Definitely not. CBD already doesn’t get you high, and the absorption rate of CBD soap is so low that intoxication fears shouldn’t even be on your radar.

Even a THC soap probably wouldn’t cause any notable intoxication. It’s all about the administration method, and lathering on soap isn’t a way to get high on anything.
