Sweet Cake on Wheels: Secret Nature Sweet Cake Pre-Roll 2-Pack Review - Secret Nature

As Secret Nature’s blog writer, I first tried Sweet Cake a couple of weeks ago when I reviewed this strain’s pre-roll seven-pack. That particular seven-pack of Secret Nature pre-rolls has remained on my desk ever since, and its six remaining CBD joints have gradually dwindled away.

Finally, my last Sweet Cake pre-roll was gone. But, I still had my Secret Nature Sweet Cake Pre-Roll 2-Pack.

In this review, I’ll compare and contrast the differences between the Secret Nature Sweet Cake Pre-Roll 2-Pack and 7-Pack. Along the way, I’ll cover some of the reasons you might want to choose either pre-roll pack size.

First impressions

Hunting through the remainder of my Secret Nature care package, I found what I’d come looking for: the slim, solid pre-roll two-pack box with the words “Sweet Cake” on the front. I opened the top flap of the box and slid a glass cylinder out onto my hand.

The pre-rolls inside looked and smelled just like the CBD joints that had previously populated my seven-pack of Secret Nature Sweet Cake Pre-Rolls. I was impressed by this regularity between different products featuring the same strain.

Maybe all the pre-rolls from my Sweet Cake 7-Pack and my Sweet Cake 2-Pack came from the same plant. This explanation is extremely far-fetched, however, and it's much more likely that the precision of Secret Nature’s manufacturing processes simply produces consistent results.

Like before, Sweet Cake smelled very sweet and somewhat earthy. By the nature of Secret Nature’s glass joint cylinders, I didn’t smell my Sweet Cake pre-rolls at all until I twisted off the cap on the cylinder they were sealed inside.

SUMMARY:

  • Package easy to find and open
  • Impressive consistency between 2-pack and 7-pack Sweet Cake pre-roll products
  • Completely smell-proof glass joint cylinder with metal lid

Packaging and labeling

I like Secret Nature’s pre-roll two-pack packaging more every time I see it. This time around, I focused on some of the finer points of the packaging on my Secret Nature Sweet Cake Pre-Roll 2-Pack.

The box my pre-rolls came in stands up on its own. It might get knocked over rather easily, but this potential for upright positioning makes the box easier to store.

The cardboard is high-quality, strong, and durable. It features abundant and attractive labeling including an informative sticker on the back.

This sticker features a QR code you can scan to view the lab report for the Secret Nature Sweet Cake Pre-Roll 2-Pack. It also tells you the total CBD content of the pre-rolls.

The glass cylinder inside the box is durable and hermetically sealed. When resealed, it’s entirely smell-proof.

After you smoke your Secret Nature Sweet Cake pre-rolls, you can use this unmarked glass container for storing spices, supplements, or more joints. All of my glass cylinders have arrived undamaged, and reports of damaged cylinders are extremely rare.

SUMMARY:

  • Stable, durable, and attractive box
  • Detailed, tech-friendly labeling
  • Reusable, airtight glass cylinder

Texture

In terms of texture, I found the joint from my Secret Nature Sweet Cake Pre-Roll 2-Pack to be just the same as the the pre-rolls from the Sweet Cake seven-pack. If anything, the texture of the two-pack joint might have been slightly better.

Starting with the first, each of the seven CBD joints in my Secret Nature Sweet Cake Pre-Roll 7-Pack burned with “unusual intensity.” I came to like this attribute, but it led to slightly harsher, though still mild and pleasant, smoke.

The texture of the joint from the two-pack seemed just slightly milder. My theory is that the glass of the pre-roll tube preserves the hemp material slightly better than the plastic bag that Secret Nature’s pre-roll seven-packs ship in.

Therefore, I have a valuable pro tip for veteran Secret Nature shoppers. When you try a new strain, buy the two-pack. If you decide you really like a strain you’ve tried, buy the 7-pack.

By this point, you’ll already have at least 2-3 glass two-pack cylinders. Once your 7-pack arrives, you can transfer the joints inside into the glass cylinders for optimal storage.

SUMMARY:

  • Slightly harsher, but still mild texture
  • Texture perhaps improved compared to Sweet Cake seven-pack
  • Pro tip: hang onto your two-pack packages

Flavor

Derived in large part from the strain Birthday Cake Kush, Secret Nature Sweet Cake shares many of the flavor traits of its THC-rich progenitor. Born of a cross between Girl Scout Cookies and Cherry Pie, Birthday Cake Kush passes on its notes of vanilla-sweet, creamy citrus.

This strain’s earthy undertones came out just as strongly in the two-pack pre-roll as they had in my seven-pack pre-rolls. In fact, I couldn’t note any detectable differences in flavor between the two joints. As far as my taste buds could tell, the manicured, ground-up buds they contained could have been from the same plant.

SUMMARY:

  • Dominant notes of vanilla sweetness
  • Undertones of earth
  • No perceivable difference between flavor of joints from two-pack and seven-pack

Effects

Just like every other time I’d tried this strain, I found Secret Nature Sweet Cake to have powerfully relaxing effects. Again, I felt like it was a great strain to have on hand for bedtime, and the convenient size of the Secret Nature Sweet Cake Pre-Roll 2-Pack makes it easy to have a joint on hand whenever it comes time to wind down.

As I’ve gotten to know this strain, I’ve recognized Sweet Cake to be something of an impressive mood-changer. Not only does Sweet Cake make me feel profoundly calm and relaxed, it also soothes my mind.

SUMMARY:

  • Strongly relaxing indica effects
  • Underlying sense of non-intoxicating euphoria
  • Relaxing on multiple levels

Onset and duration of effects

Every Sweet Cake pre-roll I’ve smoked has delivered effects within around a minute that last for 90 minutes give or take. That much was no different when I smoked the first of the twins in my Secret Nature Sweet Cake Pre-Roll 2-Pack.

Instead, I’ll compare and contrast the differences in how fast you can get a joint ready and smoke it. The Secret Nature seven-pack package is kind of bulky and hard to handle, but the two-pack cylinder is easy to slip in and out of your pocket at a moment’s notice.

That’s yet another reason to hold onto your two-pack cylinders instead of throwing them away.

SUMMARY:

  • Primary effects kick in after around a minute
  • Last for approximately 90 minutes
  • Two-pack is easy to open, get a joint in hand, and get it lit

Overall score

All things considered, I give the Secret Nature Sweet Cake Pre-Roll 2-Pack an overall score of 4.96 out of 5.

Packaging and labeling: 5.0/5

Texture: 4.9/5

Flavor: 4.9/5

Effects: 5.0/5

Duration of effects: 5.0/5

Overall score: 4.96/5

There’s nothing I can find wrong with the packaging of this Secret Nature pre-roll two-pack. The texture of the smoke seems somewhat improved compared to the seven-pack, and the flavor of Sweet Cake has remained consistently pleasant every time I’ve smoked it.

The effects of this strain are unflaggingly enjoyable, and they last just as long as you’d expect.
