What is a CBD tincture?

There are lots of different ways to take CBD. Popular types of CBD products range from transdermal patches to gelatin capsules, so it's natural to feel overwhelmed by your options. CBD elixirs are simple, reliable, and easy to use, which makes them a great choice for people who are new to using CBD.

Even long-term CBD users find, however, that they genuinely like tinctures after they try our Organic CBD Flower Nectar. Learn all about this high-quality oral CBD product, its ingredients, and why using elixirs is a great way to explore the wide world of CBD products. Let's dive in.

Is CBD tincture the same as CBD oil?

The terminology surrounding CBD tinctures can get confusing due to misinformation. Let's clear things up:

CBD oil: Cannabidiol-rich Cannabis sativa flower extract with less than 0.3% THC

CBD tincture: A finished product with CBD oil, a carrier, and other ingredients

Types of CBD used in tinctures

As the CBD market has expanded, a few different types of cannabidiol "raw material" have emerged. Here are the three types of CBD most commonly used in elixirs:

Isolate CBD

This form of cannabidiol has been stripped of all the other constituents of cannabis flower. It takes a crystalline form that can be crushed into powder.

Broad-spectrum CBD oil

Broad-spectrum CBD oil contains most of the cannabinoids and terpenes present in cannabis flower, but it has been lightly processed to remove all traces of THC. This form of CBD is sometimes also called distillate.

Full-spectrum CBD oil

Also called winterized CBD oil, full-spectrum CBD contains the full medley of cannabinoids and terpenes present in cannabis flower. Secret Nature Flower Nectar contains organic, full-spectrum CBD oil.

Other ingredients used in CBD tinctures

Aside from cannabidiol extract in one of the three forms listed above, most low-THC tinctures made from the cannabis plant also include the following other ingredients:

Carriers

MCT oil and hemp seed oil are popular oils used as carriers in cannabidiol elixirs. Each of these substances has its own benefits, but you should watch out for useless carrier ingredients, like propylene glycol, which could also be harmful.

Flavors

Natural flavoring ingredients, like essential oils and cannabis terpenes, are safe and effective for masking the sometimes-overpowering taste of CBD oil. High-quality CBD tinctures, however, don't contain artificial ingredients. In fact, the ingredients list on your tincture shouldn't even include "natural flavoring," since this industry term often masks the presence of dangerous additives.

Beneficial additives

CBD tinctures can be strengthened with additional ingredients, such as other non-intoxicating cannabinoids or terpenes. Plus, there are plenty of natural substances out there that may have the same benefits of cannabinoids that naturally complement CBD tinctures.

Dangerous cannabidiol contaminants to watch out for

Aside from the common toxins we've already listed, here are a few examples of other substances that shouldn't be present in your oral cannabidiol product:

  • Artificial preservatives
  • Colorings
  • "Natural flavors" without listing the individual ingredients
  • Bases that could go rancid, like olive oil
  • Cannabidiol oil that isn't organic since it's more likely to contain agricultural toxins

What's better about this CBD tincture?

While developing our cannabidiol tincture product, we realized we had a few different ways to approach the market. Secret Nature had already met with overwhelming success in the low-THC flower vertical, so we didn't need to make a lot of money with a sub-par elixir. Instead, we set out to make the best, most effective CBD-rich tincture ever concocted.

As a result, a lot of love and R&D budget was put into our Organic CBD Flower Nectar. While most brands use their tinctures as their flagship products and expect big sales volumes and even bigger margins, we depend on our ultra-popular products to pay the bills while we put proper investment into specialized products, like our organic CBD tincture, that add something new to our portfolio.

What is black seed oil?

Also known as fennel flower or black seed, Nigella sativa is a flowering plant native to Southwest Asia. Initial studies show that this plant may be just as beneficial as cannabis, though it's much less researched. Since black seed oil does not appear to have any significant side effects, we decided to include it in our tincture in the hopes of manifesting healing synergy. In a CBD elixir market filled with useless additives and deceptive marketing, Secret Nature Organic CBD Flower Nectar is a refreshing departure.

Other ingredients

You may have noticed that there aren't many ingredients in our list. Here's everything else you should know about:

Organic hemp seed oil

There are plenty of cannabidiol tincture carriers to choose from, but hemp seed oil is the only option that keeps things in the Cannabis family. The cannabis plant has many uses, and its seeds have nutritional properties.

Organic cannabis terpenes

Everyone knows that cannabis terpenes smell great, but they also taste great. There's no reason to fill your CBD tincture with dangerous flavorings—natural, cannabis-based ingredients like terpenes work just as well without the potential risks.

Organic peppermint essential oil

Peppermint lends a special flavor in any form, and peppermint essential oil has impressive benefits that make it a solid addition to our tincture blend.

Customer reviews

What do real Secret Nature customers have to say about our Flower Nectar? Let's find out.

"This is great! I use two drops every night and it helps me sleep well." - Aleksandra T., 2/16/20

"Tastes like hemp...so no flavor really if you’re into that but it doesn’t taste bad. It is effective and that is what matters to me. Quality stuff" - Nate R., 12/13/19

"I am 80 years old and my granddaughter bought me one of these tinctures. I was very reluctant at first since I was not used to taking new medicines, but she insisted this was not like other medications. I am so glad I tried this amazing product, I was using Aleve to help sooth my joint pain and Ambien to help me sleep at night, but once I used this they were both unnecessary." - Ramesh K., 2/03/19

How to take CBD tincture

If you're new to CBD elixir, start slow. Each drop of Secret Nature tincture contains 2.1mg CBD, and there are around 600 drops in each bottle. Meter this amount out however you like, but just keep in mind that CBD can cause mild sedation that's especially pronounced in new users.

Try taking our tincture on its own, or consider adding it to a drink. You can even drizzle your Secret Nature nectar on a cookie or cracker. Our elixir's unique flavor adds a special layer to anything you eat or drink.

Do CBD tinctures work?

That's not for us to say. We want to educate you as much as possible about CBD, but in the end, it's up to the FDA to determine exactly how well this cannabinoid works for common conditions.

What we can say with assurance is that Secret Nature nectar is designed to work as efficiently and effectively as possible. By avoiding unnecessary ingredients, we're able to perfect each and every component of our Organic Hemp Flower Nectar. Give it a try today!
